The article discusses issues related to the essence, types and main forms of manifestation of one of the common phenomena in the modern world - migration. It is noted that in general, migration is understood as the forced or voluntary movement of the population from one country to another or within one country, due to a change in permanent or temporary place of residence. In this regard, it is explained that migration is a large-scale and multifaceted phenomenon, and the classification of its components is carried out according to various criteria (for example: geographical, functional, temporary, legal, etc.). Within the framework of the study, special attention is also paid to the dynamics of the annual number of departures from the Republic of Armenia and entries into the Republic of Armenia. In this regard, it is noted that the overall migration to the Republic of Armenia in 2015-2019 is constantly increasing. Meanwhile, in 2020 a sharp decline in this indicator is recorded. Later it grows back. The author also draws special attention to the fact that for RA citizens the difference between entries and exits is, as a rule, negative, and for foreigners it is positive. The exception is 2020, which is mainly due to restrictions caused by COVID-19.
